1928 – 2014

AUBURN — Frieda Irene Bessey Davis, 86, died Monday, June 30, of multiple myeloma.

Frieda was born in Canton on Feb. 7, 1928, to Mabel Barker Bessey and Ralph Alden Bessey. Her sister, Shirley Bessey Lyons, predeceased her in 1995.

Frieda graduated from Canton High School in 1946 and married Victor S. Davis on Aug. 16, 1946. Victor predeceased her in 2008.

Frieda worked in Canton after her marriage and enjoyed spending time with her family at Popham Beach and The Grove on Canton Lake with many day trips around Maine and New Hampshire.

She worked for many years at Hannaford Brothers in Rumford. She and Victor moved to Auburn in 1994.

Frieda is survived by her children, Stephen and Robyn Davis of Prospect, Ky., Ronald and Gayle Davis of Naples, Fla., Randall and Laura Davis of Smithfield, and Margaret Davis McLoon and her husband, Michael McLoon, of Jefferson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Our family will always cherish Mom’s sense of humor.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their care both at home and at the Androscoggin Hospice House and special neighbors, David and Niki Pendleton, for all their assistance to both Frieda and Victor over the years they lived in Auburn.
