Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies march across Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton to honor the longest-serving deputy, Albert Smith Sr. of East Wilton, who died July 2 after a battle with cancer. Smith retired after serving 38 years with the department from his position as transport officer supervisor at the Franklin County Detention Center on April 30, 2013. Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies honored the county’s longest-serving deputy, Albert Smith Sr. of East Wilton, on Monday at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton. Smith died Wednesday after a battle with cancer. He retired after serving 38 years with the department from his position as transport officer supervisor at the Franklin County Detention Center on April 30, 2013.
