1940 – 2014

FARMINGTON — Mary Ann Drach, a longtime resident of Temple, died Sunday, July 6, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation of complications of vascular disease.

She was born June 25, 1940, the daughter of L. Burton Drach and Emily (Reif) Drach of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Glen Ellyn, Ill.

She served as choir director of the First Congregational Church (Old South) in Farmington for more than 25 years and taught voice and piano privately. Her novels and stories were widely circulated in science fiction and media fan magazines. She sang professionally with early music groups and was active in musical theater in Farmington and in Ann Arbor, Mich. where she studied at the University of Michigan. She was a graduate of Hanover College in Indiana.

She was predeceased by her parents and by her stepmother, Irma Drach.

She is survived by a step-sister, Joyce (Mrs. Jack) Drake of Ohio; a nephew, Randy Hibberd; a god-daughter, Christina (Mrs. Adam) Bobrow; and dear friends, Regina Longyear and Kathleen Lynch.
