1951 – 2014

POLAND — Paul E. Paradis, 62, of Poland, passed away in his home on the morning of Friday, July 4.

Paul was born to Paul C. and Geraldine Paradis in Auburn on Aug. 21, 1951. He attended Sacred Heart School and Edward Little High School, graduating in 1970. Paul then went on to attain both his associate and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maine system, as well as a master’s in business administration from New Hampshire College in 1997.

Paul was also an active military member, most notably working in the family program of the National Guard during the Desert Storm conflict. He retired from military service after 20 years as a major in the Army.

After his retirement from military service, Paul enjoyed becoming a teacher. He worked at both the RETC/SOS school as well as Edward Little High School in Auburn.

Paul married his wife, Pauline Paradis (Fournier), on April 6, 1979, and after a couple of years living in Lewiston, the couple built a home in Durham, where they settled to raise their family. Paul and Pauline were both active members of their parish, and Paul enjoyed golfing, John Wayne movies and, though he would deny it, time spent mowing his lawn in Durham. More recently, the couple moved to Poland to enjoy their retirement years.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; and his children, Eric Wing and wife, Tanya, of Topsham, Jennifer Paradis, also of Topsham, and Heather Blanchard and husband, Patrick, of Lisbon. Paul is also survived by his granddaughters, Julia, Gabrielle and Amelia. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers, Dennis Paradis and his wife, Pam, of Lewiston, Charlie Paradis of Lewiston, John Paradis and his wife, Tammy, of Sabattus and Thomas Paradis and his wife, Mellisa, of New York; and his sister, Anne-Marie Knauf and her husband, Kyle, of Ontario, Canada. Paul is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who knew him best as “Uncle Pep.”

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Paul C. and Geraldine (Roy) Paradis; as well as a younger sister, Margo; and younger brother, Daniel.
