LEWISTON — The Maine Timberwolves, new members of the Northern States Hockey League, are moving forward with their vision to bring junior hockey back to Lewiston. The team took a major step Thursday when they, in conjunction with the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, released their 2013-14 home schedule and ticket pricing information.

The team will play 16 home games between September and February, including four Friday night games, six Saturday night games, five Sunday afternoon games and one on a Thursday night later in the season.

“We have come through two prior experiences where, in the first instance the ticket prices were too high, and in the second, there were too many games in a season,” Jim Cain, owner of Firland Management and the Colisee, said. “We believe we have now set out a pricing formula that will allow many people to take advantage of season and other packages balanced with a schedule that will work.”

The NSHL, established in 2012, was created “to develop and promote amateur junior A hockey players with the ability and desire to play at the college level,” according to the league’s mission statement.

The league has placed 36 players in either college or European pro hockey in two seasons, including former Messalonskee of Oakland standout goalie Nate DelGiudice, who will play at the University of Southern Maine next season.

The NSHL expanded to 12 teams for the 2014-15 season, including the addition of the Timberwolves. Other teams in the league include the Biddeford-based Maine Wild, the New Hampshire Fighting Sprit of Laconia, N.H., the Cape Cod (Mass.) Islanders, the New England Stars of Tyngsboro, Mass., and the Junior Mariners out of Salem, N.H.

The other division within the league features four teams from New York (Mexico, Syracuse, Rochester and Lockport), and one each in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The Timberwolves’ home schedule is made up almost entirely of teams from the eastern region, with three games each against the Wild, Spirit, Islanders and Mariners. The Timberwolves will face the Stars twice and also host Lockport twice near the end of the season on back-to-back nights.

A 16-game season ticket will cost $80 for adults, with a season-long parking pass for the VIP lot running $64.

The team is also offering 10-game flex packs for the same season-ticket rate. Individual games will cost two dollars more in advance ($7), and day-of-game sales will increase one more dollar ($8).
