1951 – 2014

ROXBURY — Keith Layne Thompson, 62, died peacefully at his residence at Roxbury Pond on Wednesday, July 16, with his loving wife, Nancy, his faithful companion, “C.C.,” and his family by his side after a longtime battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Rumford on Dec. 30, 1951. A high school graduate, he received his GED in Phoenix, Ariz. He also served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.

Keith worked as a painter for Riddle Painting Co., in Phoenix, Ariz., for many years, until his retirement in 2008. He then returned to Maine to fulfill his desire to live out his life at Roxbury Pond. He was a member of Rumford Falls Aerie No. 1248, Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He was married in Phoenix, Ariz., on April 15, 1975, to Nancy Marie Cohen Thompson, who survives of Roxbury Pond. Other survivors include his mother, Theresa Montoya, of Roxbury; son, Brian Thompson and wife, Amanda, of Rumford; three grandchildren, Andrew Bishop Thompson of Payson, Ariz., and Terrick Thorpe Thompson and Liam Thompson of Phoenix, Ariz.; six step-grandchildren, Matthew and Bliss Rogers and Issac Thorpe of Phoenix, Ariz., Jesse James Bishop of Payson, Ariz., and Mackenzie Jones and Olivia Ross of Rumford; three sisters, Judy Moody and husband, Jim, Charlene Hillis and husband, Rod, and Barbara Sullivan and husband, John, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; and four brothers, Raymond and Jimmie Thompson, Kenneth Thompson and companion, Peggy Vaughn, and Robert Thompson and wife, Sherri, all of Roxbury.

He was predeceased by his father, Raymond; and a son, Richard.
