FAIRIELD – Plum Creek has announced it has awarded scholarships to two Mt. Abram Regional High School students.

Emma Houston, a senior at Mt. Abram, plans to attend Western Washington University-Fairhaven College in Bellingham, Wash., to pursue a degree in environmental science.

During high school, she spent a semester attending National Outdoor Leadership School, where she gained leadership, backpacking, canoeing and rock climbing skills.

She is the daughter of Kathleen and William Houston.

Thomas Faraday, also a senior at Mt. Abram, was active in track and Nordic skiing. He received the Maine Principals’ Award and the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award.

He also worked as a Nordic ski instructor and climbing wall technician. He has not yet selected a college. Faraday is the son of Michael and Madelyn Faraday.

Plum Creek annually awards scholarships to exemplary high school students who plan to continue their education after graduation.

Students are recognized based on their academic achievements, participation in school and community activities and overall achievement in their high school careers.
