Mary Jo Kennett (nee Dalton) died on July 11 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough following a brief illness. Born on March 15, 1955 on Long Island, New York, she moved to Maine in the 1980’s. She loved Bethel and often referred to it as her real home, a place she never wanted to leave. She was an avid runner, many years she sponsored and ran in the Mollyockett Marathon in Bethel. She was often seen running with her white poodles Ben and Jerry.
Mary Jo was owner and sales broker of Kennett Realty in Bethel, having established this agency in 1990. Prior to that, she worked atSunday River starting in the year 1986. From 1987 to 1990 she was the top sales person at Sunday River’s Real Estate Department during this time. She went on to found Kennett Realty and served as Designated Broker, Mary Jo was the top producing Agent in the Bethel & Surrounding Area for the many years.
Mary Jo loved her family, friends, clients and her community. Mary Jo is survived by her sisters Patrice Dalton of East Hampton, NY, Jean Clare Austin of Venice Florida and Joyce Carroll Harrison of Calverton, NY,10 nieces and nephews Ellen McNulty, Clare McCutcheon, Dianne Finneran Yepes, James, John and Dan Finneran, Debbie Hammil, Richard and Robert Austin, Kathleen Pietras and her many friends in the Bethel area who were so important to her. She will be buried with her parents James and Josephine Dalton who predeceased her.
A memorial service will be planned for a future date.
