MINOT — A 5-year-old girl found at the bottom of a pool Thursday night died over the weekend, according to police.
Lt. Glenn Holt at the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said Abigail Rodrigue passed away on Saturday. She’d been at the Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center in critical condition.
Rodrigue, the daughter of Jessica and Lucas Rodrigue of Minot, had been playing with eight other children in a pool when she was spotted at the bottom of the deep end.
Two adults were supervising the children and police said late last week it appears it was a tragic accident. It remains under investigation.
Friends who started a fundraiser on Give It Forward to help the family had raised almost $1,000 by Monday morning.
