LEWISTON — Police have made an arrest in the overnight robbery of Lewiston Variety.

Lt. Michael McGonagle said Jacob Koch, 31, of Lewiston has been charged with Class A robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

At 9 p.m. Sunday, Koch walked into the convenience store, pointed a gun at the clerk, demanded money and fled in a vehicle, according to McGonagle.

“Officers within a short time located a suspect on Howard Street,” he said. “We recovered some of the money” along with a .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun.

Koch was found so quickly due to “good police work,” McGonagle said.

The robbery remains under investigation.

There was one clerk on duty at the store at 145 College St. Lewiston Variety was previously robbed in April.
