1948 – 2014

PORTLAND — Gertrude D. Ames, 65, of Frostproof, Fla., passed away on Saturday, July 19, at Maine Medical Center surrounded by loving family, following a brief illness.

She was born in Rumford on Oct. 8, 1948, a daughter of Glendon M. and Eunice J. (Conrad) Tozier. Trudy was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1966.

She married the love of her life and the guy next door, James E. Ames, on July 6, 1968, and they celebrated 46 years together. They resided most of their lives in Hanover and raised their three children there.

Trudy was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winthrop. She enjoyed all types of needle work and her many trips to Disney. Trudy, most of all, loved family gatherings.

Surviving are her husband of 46 years, James E. Ames, of Frostproof, Fla., and Leeds; her mother, Eunice J. Tozier, of New Market, Va.; three daughters, Melissa M. Record and husband, Bruce, of North Monmouth, Aimee S. Pratt and husband, Lewis, of Lewiston and Darcie A. Bolstridge and husband, Ron, of North Monmouth; a sister, Glenna M. Violette and husband, Normand, of New Market, Va.; a brother, Mark J. Tozier and wife, Faye, of Mexico; six grandchildren, Megan Record, Sarah P. Record, Kerianne Shurtleff, Cameron Shurtleff, Alex Pratt and Ben Bolstridge; and one great-grandson, James Wright.

She was predeceased by her father.
