FRYEBURG – Fryeburg Police arrested a Massachusetts man for felony possession of cocaine and paraphernalia Saturday night at his campsite along the Saco River.

Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin told WCSH 6 that Vaughan C. Renaud of Yarmouth Port, Mass., was arrested shortly after 8 p.m.

Potvin said Renaud was found to be in possession of 14 grams of cocaine. He was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Schedule ‘W’ Drug and Possession/Use of Drug Paraphernalia. Both charges are felonies.

Officials told WCSH 6 that Renaud has already posted $1,000 bail and is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Oxford County Superior Court on September 12th.

Chief Potvin applauded the efforts of his staff in the arrest. “I commend the officers involved in this investigation for their proactive patrol tactics. We dedicate additional officers to patrol the Saco River which ensures the safety of the residents and visitors so they have a pleasant experience while camping along the river” Potvin said.
