1921 – 2014
AUBURN — Marjorie A. Edwards, 93, of Lisbon Falls passed away Saturday morning at Clover Manor in Auburn.
She was born in Boston on Feb. 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Wingate and Mabelle (Owen) Thomas.
She grew up in the Somerville area and attended local schools there. After high school, Marjorie received a degree in business.
On Sept. 12, 1942, she married Donald W. Edwards in Everett, Mass. Because of Donald’s proud service in the military, they moved from Massachusetts to California and back again before finally moving to Maine in 1959 where they would stay. While in Maine, Marjorie taught kindergarten for the Lisbon Falls Christian Academy for many years.
She loved making quilts and sewing. She was also very keen on singing and playing music, especially with her family, which is very musically inclined. She was a very dedicated mother who loved spending quality time with her family and friends whenever she could. She was a member of the Lisbon Falls Baptist Church, and she was very involved there as well.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Stephen and his wife Carolyn of Madison, Ala., Barbara Edwards and her husband, Chuck, of Spearfish, S.D., Philip and his wife, Mary, of Lisbon, Paul and his wife, Carol, of Topsham, Ginny Barrett and her husband, Peter, of Litchfield, Dan and his wife, Dena, of Vermillion, S.D., and Cippa McBride and her husband, Mark, of Sabattus; 23 grandchildren;28 great-grandchildren; and her beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, in 1982; her three brothers, Nelson, Foster and Richard; and a nephew, David Edwards.
