WILTON — The Wilton Fish & Game Association members and the WF&G Youth Shooting League are preparing for the annual open house during the Wilton Blueberry Festival weekend.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at 240 U.S. Route 2.

The day will begin with free basic archery instruction from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the direction of a certified instructor from the University of Maine 4-H Shooting and Archery Camp at Bryant Pond.

Ashlee and Troy McCormick, members of the Wilton Fish & Game, have recently taken a three-day course for archery certification at Bryant Pond Archery Camp. The certification will enable the club to sponsor archery events with certified instructors.

The outside range will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the availability to try shooting the Gatling gun or in the shooting gallery.

The trap range will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. under the direction of Charlie Tappan. Beginners are invited. Cost is $4.50 for 25 pigeons.

Members will be downtown with membership forms and tickets for the annual fall raffle on Friday and Saturday during the Blueberry Festival. The first prize choice is either a 12 gauge ATI over/under shotgun, kayak or tablet; second prize, hand-crafted youth snowshoes and harnesses; third, fly fishing package; fourth, hand-crafted walking stick.

A daily door prize will be drawn for a one-year WF&GA club membership. The winning raffle prize tickets will be drawn on Sept. 20 at the Farmington Fair Club Booth. Membership is always open, meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m. There will be no September meeting because of Farmington Fair.  For more information, call Phil at 897-4305.

A hamburger and hot dog lunch will be available at the clubhouse through the youth league. This is a fundraising event for the members to help support their shooting expenses and programs.

The Club Youth Shooting League float will be in the parade.
