FARMINGTON — A Wilton man was charged Wednesday morning after a Franklin County deputy clocked him driving 98 mph in a 50 mph zone on Lucy Knowles Road, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.
There was a 4-year-old child in the vehicle, he said.
Cpl. Nate Bean arrested Kyle Campbell, 27, on misdemeanor charges of driving to endanger and criminal speed — 30 miles over the speed limit, Nichols said.
Campbell’s vehicle also was clocked at 78 mph in a 35-mph zone, Nichols said.
Bean spotted the speeding vehicle and turned his cruiser to stop Campbell’s vehicle at about 7:30 a.m. Campbell pulled over to the side of the road and didn’t try to elude police, he said.
Campbell was taken to the Franklin County jail in Farmington. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail, a corrections officer said.
The child was turned over to family members, Nichols said.
