1925 – 2014

PORTLAND — Dolores T. Carrier, 89, a resident of Kopaddy Trail in Harpswell, died Saturday, Aug. 2, at Maine Medical Center following a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston on May 24, 1925, a daughter of Leonard A. and Marianne (Gamache) Gagne. She attended schools in Lewiston.

Dolores worked for several years in area shoe shops, before going to work at the Hill Mill in Lewiston, where she made fabric for soldiers’ uniforms during World War II.

In 1946, Dolores married Hector Carrier and then worked along side her husband building houses. Dolores took care of the accounting and billing for the family company right up until 2009.

Survivors include her son, Richard B. and his wife, Dorothy D. Carrier, of Harpswell; two sisters, Medora Guerette of Florida and Ann Marie Corriveau of Lewiston; a grandson, Christopher R. and his wife, Chenessa Carrier, of Topsham; her godson, David and his wife, Monique Labbay; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, who died in 2010.

The Carrier family would like to thank Cundy’s Harbor Rescue for their unselfish and numerous visits to respond to Delores’ health needs.
