1940 – 2014

LEWISTON — Roger N. Arris, 74, of Mechanic Falls, died Monday, Aug. 4, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on July 30, 1940, the son of Robert Arris and Evelyn Emery. He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School, Class of 1958. He married Judith G. Paine on July 10, 1959.

Roger was employed by Andrews Oil and J. W. Penney Co., before owning Roger’s Heating for 20 years. Later, he worked as a custodian at Elm Street School and retired in 2009 from environmental services at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was a member of the Mechanic Falls Fire Department for many years, chairman of the Board of Appeals and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post No. 150. He was also a member of the Granby, Mass., Fire Department while living in Massachusetts.

Roger enjoyed reading, NASCAR, woodworking, playing golf and eating ice cream. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith, of Mechanic Falls; his daughters, Rhonda Huskins and her husband, David, and Robin Arris; grandchildren, Jeffrey Bryant and wife, Kandy, Troy Bryant and wife, Nichole, Shannon Lessard and husband, Randy, Mallory Huskins, Chad Bryant, Mariah Dufour and Katelyn Dufour; and his great-grandchildren, Trent Lessard, Adelyn Bryant, Colton Bryant, Bentley Hoover, Alyvia Bryant and Taylor Bryant.

He was predeceased by his parents and a daughter, Roberta Arris.
