FORT KENT — A former paratrooper who lost four limbs in Afghanistan is planning to skydive with a first lady afraid of heights.
Gov. Paul LePage’s wife, Ann, and retired Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills are set to jump from a plane during Saturday’s Freedom Fest. The fundraising jumps will raise money for a veteran center and museum.
As first lady, LePage has made supporting the military her mission, and she says she couldn’t turn Mills down when he challenged her to join him.
Mills has made it his cause to help others since he lost all his limbs in an explosion in Afghanistan in 2012.
The Vassar, Michigan, native says he may have scars, but he knows he has to get on with life.
