1928 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Pearl Helen Paine, 85, of South Paris, died Friday, Aug. 8, at her home in South Paris surrounded by her family.

She was born on, Dec. 1, 1928, in South Paris, a daughter of Elmer and Hazel (Bradeen) Shortridge. She attended local schools, graduating from Paris High School.

On Dec. 1, 1947, she married George Allen Paine in South Paris, where they made their home.

Pearl was a tremendously hardworking woman her entire life, working alongside her husband in the woods, apple picking, pig farming and with Paine’s Carpentry.

Since receiving Christ as her personal avior, she has been active with the South Paris Baptist Church, particularly in youth work, as a Sunday school teacher, an Awana leader and the choir. When Diane Muise filmed her live video, Pearl sang in the backup choir.

She enjoyed going to gospel concerts of her favorite artists, spending Labor Day weekends at Living Waters, fishing, moose hunting trips, family get-together’s every year, and especially time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Pearl is survived by her husband of 65 years, George of South Paris; a daughter, Caroline Paine of South Paris; a son, Anthony Paine and his wife, Joan (Jack) of South Paris; grandchildren, Lisa Keisman, Anna Cyr and her husband, Jason, and Anthony “Andy” Paine Jr. and his wife, Amy; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ethan, and Mya Keisman, Blaine and Gwenna Cyr, and MacKenzie Daigle; and a sister, Elma Young.

She was predeceased by her parents; an infant son; a brother-in-law, Wilson Paine and his wife, Mildred (Johnson); brothers-in-law, Dannie Paine and Earl Young; and an infant sister.
