AUGUSTA — A Richmond woman was charged with leaving the scene of an accident Sunday afternoon.

Shortly after noon Sunday, a pickup truck was traveling south on Interstate 95, driven by Adam Breznkya, 29, of Winslow. Breznkya attempted to pass a Jeep Wrangler when it drifted into his lane.

Breznkya swerved to avoid the Jeep, overcorrected and lost control of his vehicle, which rolled several times.

Witnesses told police the driver of the Jeep stopped after the accident but then left the scene. One witness followed the vehicle to get the license plate number, which was then given to police.

Jennifer Beckwith-Pierce, 31, of Richmond, was located a short time later and charged with leaving the scene of a personal-injury accident, according to a news release from Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Breznyka suffered minor injuries. He was wearing his seat belt, which is believed to have helped minimize the extent of his injuries, according to the news release.
