LEWISTON — Androscoggin Bank’s MainStreet Foundation recently announced the recipients of its quarterly awards to date this year, giving a total of more than $22,000.

The quarterly awards are given to organizations actively working to help ensure children are safe, healthy, active, happy, educated and nourished.

During the quarterly meetings of the MainStreet Foundation Board of Directors, held March 19 and June 4, the committee approved grants to six organizations.

In the Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford county areas, a first-quarter award of $4,996 went to Franklin County Children’s Task Force, a Farmington-based nonprofit committed to strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect through mobilizing community resources and advocating for and providing services that promote healthy children and families.

Other first-quarter awards went to Portland-based Cromwell Center for Disabilities Awareness and Camp Ketcha in Scarborough.

For second-quarter awards, in the tri-county area Bates Dance Festival was awarded $1,500 to support its work cultivating opportunities for “learning, creativity and connection in a supportive and diverse dance and performance environment.” The award is specifically for transportation expenses associated with making the festival’s programs accessible to youth.

Also receiving second-quarter awards were Tri-County Literacy of Bath and Mid-Coast Hunger Prevention Program of Brunswick.
