1947 – 2014

SIDNEY — Bonnie K. Erickson, 67, of Scotty Road in Sidney, died unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 11, at her home, following a brief illness.

She was born in Gardiner on April 6, 1947, the daughter of Norman T. Kidder and Ethelyn (Ralston) Kidder. Bonnie was a 1965 graduate of Gardiner Area High School and attended Boston University.

After leaving Boston University, Bonnie went to work as a stewardess for American Airlines for a few years. She was employed as a public relations director by the Small Business Administration for the majority of her professional career and it was her accomplishments in aiding new small businesses succeed that gave her the greatest sense of pride. While working for the SBA, she was instrumental in opening the Business Information Center in the Bates Mill in Lewiston.

Bonnie was an avid gardener. Her backyard was her sanctuary, full of beautiful blooming flower beds and too many bird feeders to count. She also had a passion for knitting and baking cookies. There were so many things Bonnie was known for, but the best was for being Mimi.

Bonnie leaves behind a son who was her pride and joy, Todd Darby Erickson, of Chelsea; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Hyer Erickson, whom she loved like her own daughter; and the love of her life, her granddaughter, Mallory. Bonnie was also fortunate to be able to “pick” a daughter, as she would say, in Kelly Lasselle, of West Gardiner, whom she leaves behind, as well as her husband, Michael, and their children, Carlee Hussey and Camdyn, whom she loved to the moon and back. She will also be deeply missed by her best friend and constant companion, Julie Kus and her husband, David, of Wayne, who the family would like to thank so much for all the care you gave to Bonnie in the past six months. Bonnie also leaves behind several cousins.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents.
