LIVERMORE — Taxpayers will have the option of paying their property taxes online on the town’s website, Administrative Assistant Carrie Castonguay said Thursday.

Town employees will also have the option of having their paychecks directly deposited into their accounts, she said.

The Board of Selectpersons voted Monday for both services.

Androscoggin Bank representative Lena Hann came to the Town Office and provided information as requested on direct deposit for employees prior to the meeting, according to town Treasurer Amy Byron. There is no charge for the service.

Hann also presented information on the town’s ability to accept tax payments online through the town’s website, www.livermoremaine.org.

The fee for the service is paid by the customer, Castonguay said.

Byron said she informed selectpersons that 117 property tax accounts this year have gone to lien. The total cost owed to the town, including interest and fees, is $108,816.18.

Foreclosure proceedings will not begin until February with an additional 30-day redemption period that will follow foreclosure, she said.

Tax-anticipation note paperwork has been completed for $275,000 to help the town with operating expenses until tax money comes in.

In other business Monday, the board voted to advertise for 4,500 yards of sand, delivered and mixed with salt and piled, with bids due by 6 p.m. Sept. 8.
