1. Bonny Eagle

Stags have a legitimate shot at Title No. 6 with Zach Dubiel back at the controls.

2. Cheverus

Let’s be honest: If the Stags had hold on for another 30 seconds in November, this would be like any other preseason ranking. We’d start with them and work our way down.

3. Thornton

The bad news for the rest of Class A is that 2013 (loss in regional final) was the Trojans’ idea of a down year.

4. Brunswick

Dragons tested themselves against Bonny Eagle and Thornton in the preseason and arguably have the best backfield in Class B East.

5. Biddeford

Tigers might have their best Class A campaign in a while … just in time to change the balance of power in B next season.

6. Windham

Eagles were typical of most Eastern A teams in 2013: Young, got better as the season went along, and not many seniors.

7. Marshwood

Hawks have the firepower to dominate Class B West on the ground.

8. Messalonskee

Eagles’ numbers aren’t enormous, but with Jake Dexter, Eagles have one of best all-around athletes in state at QB.

9. Bangor

Rams appeared to become themselves in mid-October after sputtering start against beefed-up schedule a year ago.

10. York

Bet that one representative in Class B title game will be from Maine’s southern tip, give someone else the field, and you’ll probably do OK.
