As an independent voter, I find it amusing that Democrat Mike Michaud and independent Eliot Cutler are sounding more like former Gov. John Baldacci. Remember Dirigo health insurance? That was truly a burden to taxpayers.
Gov. Paul LePage has since paid the hospital debt and dealt head-on with the Turnpike Authority corruption, to mention just two.
People should never forget how this country came about. We were all immigrants. The problem that I see is not with children coming into this country illegally, it is the politicians in Congress acting like irresponsible children.
Instead of a Band-Aid approach at election time, let’s go back to the Ellis Island way, as our ancestors did, and restore the selection process that gave destitute people an opportunity to work and learn U.S. history and language, earning their citizenship while creating American jobs.
