PORTLAND — WCSH-TV has reported that its former longtime sportscaster Bruce Glasier has died.

Glasier, who was battling lung cancer, began working at Channel 6 since 1977. He retired in 2012 after 35 years.

In a statement on its website, WCSH said, “For 35 years Bruce brought events from our back yards into our living rooms. Sports Overtime, The Varsity Club, and the 5th Quarter, were just some of the long running staples of the nightly local sportscast that made Bruce the Hall of Fame broadcaster that he was.”
