AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine Sen. Angus King will travel to India next week along with Democratic Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine.

King and Kaine will leave for the country on Monday and meet with senior Indian defense and foreign affairs officials as well as members of Parliament and others. They’re scheduled to return the following Saturday.

They will visit New Delhi and Mumbai, where they will meet with Indian and American business leaders as well as honor the victims of the country’s 2008 terror attacks.

The independent senator’s visit to the country will follow Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to the U.S. this week.
