1941 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Stanley L. Brickel, 72, of South Paris passed away Monday, Sept. 29, at the Market Square Health Care Center.

Stanley was born in Boston, Mass., on Dec. 31, 1941, a son of the late John “Jack” and Clara (Prell) Brickel. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1960 and attended MCI before serving his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He worked in the family business, the Lewiston News, with his father and brother. Stanley went on to own his own newspaper and magazine company and managed the Light House Store in Auburn.

Always with a generous heart, he raised funds for numerous organizations, and he was the past adjutant of the American Legion, Local 31.

Stanley enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, poker, model trains and railroad history. He loved to travel throughout the U.S., as well as Germany, Australia and other countries, and he was a big fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. Most of all, he loved time spent with grandchildren.
