1932 – 2014

LEWISTON — Marlene Hanson, 82, of Temple passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

She was born in Londonderry, N.H., on April 14, 1932, the daughter of Harry and Lucy Goings. She moved to Maine at the age of 2. Marlene attended Wilton schools and worked at local shoe shops and restaurants, retiring in the late 1980s.

She had been going to Natanis Point in Chain of Ponds since the 1960s and loved spending time there relaxing, fishing, and meeting new friends. Over the years, many people passed by her camper, and she managed to meet most of them. She enjoyed sharing her love of the area surrounding “The Chain” with the people she met by sharing her stories or taking an adventurous trip to get wood.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Lou Brackett and her husband, Russell, of Temple; her son, John Hanson of Livermore Falls; three grandchildren, Heather, Angelica and Shelly; three great-grandchildren, Jace, Dakota and Darius; her sister, Joan Farrington of Wilton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Harry George Goings; and her sister, Lucille “Punky” Marquis.
