MEXICO — The town will hold its annual Night of Appreciation banquet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, in the Recreation Center, town secretary Sheryl Briggs said Friday.
The event recognizes “all the hard work and dedication of all employees, volunteers, committee members and organizations that have been involved in our community for the past year,” she said.
“We typically get around 100 people who show up to the event,” she said. “It’s a really fun night. We’re going to have a lot of good stuff this year.”
Among the recognitions are Employee of the Year, Part-time/Reserve Employee of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Citizen of the Year.
Briggs said the recipient of the Boston Post Cane, given to the town’s oldest resident, will attend to accept the award.
“We’re also asking those attending to bring a nonperishable item for our food pantry,” Briggs said.
