RUMFORD — The Rumford Eagles Club is hosting its annual Kids Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, to raise money for the Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund.

A Halloween costume contest for children starts at 11:30 a.m. Children ages 2 to 4 will be judged at 11:30 a.m., ages 5 to 7 at 12:30 p.m., and ages 8 to 10 at 1:30 p.m. The winners of each category will receive a prize, Eagles auxiliary member Kathleen Boothby said.

Gift certificates to be auctioned off include Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum, Seacoast Park, York’s Wild Kingdom, Santa’s Village in Jefferson, N.H., Casco Bay Lines and the Bluenose Inn in Bar Harbor.

Festival events will include a maze and a face-painting table for children, and safety talks on hunting, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles.

According to the Fraternal Order of Eagles website, the Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund was founded in 2001 in Louisville, Ky., to provide grants to groups aiding people with spinal cord injuries. The fund helps organizations from across the United States and Canada raise money for research, technology development and patient care to improve the quality of life for people living with the results of spinal cord injury or disease and for their families.
