STRONG — A large doe died Thursday morning when it jumped a guardrail on Route 4, south of Ladd’s Mud Run, and struck the front-left corner of a vehicle heading south, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.
Neither the driver, Robert Thorndike II, 28, of Avon nor his passenger and father, Robert “Bob” Thorndike, 56, of Phillips were injured, he said
The deer was airborne when it hit the vehicle and bounced back over the guardrail just before 10 a.m., he said.
A local person picked up the doe.
