DIXFIELD — Lauren Henderson’s second goal of the game with 7:02 remaining in the second overtime period Wednesday directed Dirigo to a huge 2-1 MVC field hockey win over Telstar at Harlow Park.

Ellen Wainwright assisted the game-winner. Taya Harting set up Henderson’s first goal with 5:39 remaining in regulation. With the win in its regular-season finale, Dirigo (6-6-2) leapfrogged Telstar (6-7) for No. 5 in the Class C West Heal Point standings.

Becca Howard put Telstar on the board early in the game with an unassisted goal. Meg Glover made nine saves for the Rebels. Morgan Morrow turned awya 10 shots for the Cougars.

Boys’ soccer

Poland 2, Freeport 1, OT

POLAND — Kyle Radziszewski booted home a penalty kick with one second remaining in the first overtime period Wednesday, giving Poland boys’ soccer a 2-1 win over Freeport.

The play was set up by Owen Priola, whose shot was handled inside the penalty area by a Falcons defender. After the officials conferenced to make sure they were making the correct call, a penalty kick was awarded.

Ben Campbell headed in a Patrick Kuklinski cross to give Poland (4-6-1) the early lead. Caleb Abbott converted a penalty kick for Freeport (2-7-1) after Poland committed a pushing foul on a corner kick with 4:15 remaining in the half.

Poland had a chance with under 20 seconds remaining in regulation. Radziszewski took a free kick 30 yards out from the right side, but neither Ben Campbell nor Priola could get the touch on goal.

Zachary Lowe made four saves for the Knights.

Maranacook 3, Leavitt 0

TURNER — Max McQuillen, Ryan Roy and Kent Mohlar each scored a goal for unbeaten Maranacook in Wednesday’s 3-0 KVAC boys’ soccer shutout of Leavitt.

Justin Freeman made five saves to protect the zero on the board for the Black Bears (10-0). Ben Fullerton stopped seven shots for the Hornets.

Girls’ soccer

Brunswick 3, Oxford Hills 2

PARIS — Maeve Arthur of Brunswick completed a hat trick with 30:13 remaining in the game Wednesday night, and the Dragons held off Oxford Hills, 3-2, in KVAC girls’ soccer.

Mikayla Morin scored her second goal of the game 40 seconds later for the Vikings, but Oxford Hills couldn’t break through with the equalizer. Sam Bickford made eight saves for the Vikings.

Mt. Blue 1, Cony 0

AUGUSTA — Addie Brinkman buried a goal from six yards out on a corner kick in the 10th minute of the game Wednesday, and it held up for Mt. Blue in a 1-0 KVAC girls’ soccer win over Cony.

Megan Platt registered the assist. Addie Schanze made seven saves for the Cougars (4-5-2). Autumn Sudsbury stopped 13 shots for the Rams (0-10-1).
