RUMFORD — A Bethel man seriously injured in a multiple rollover accident in a small field off Route 232 late Wednesday night remains hospitalized in Lewiston.
Kasey Downs, 24, was listed in critical condition Thursday night, a Central Maine Medical Center spokeswoman said.
Downs suffered life-threatening injuries shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of his 2002 Dodge Dakota quad-cab truck on a sharp curve where the road goes across a small bridge over a brook, Rumford police Cpl. Lawrence Winson said late Wednesday night.
Winson said Downs was traveling north when the truck “rolled at least five times and he was ejected at some point during that.”
It was near a chicken coop barn about a mile south of the South Rumford Road intersection.
Winson wasn’t available Thursday night for comment, but a Rumford officer said the department didn’t have anything new to release since the incident is still being investigated and reconstructed.
He said the reconstruction report being done by Oxford County Deputy Sheriff Cpl. Justin Brown could take two weeks to complete. Police impounded the totaled Dakota after it was removed from the scene by Adley’s Auto of Rumford.
The Rumford officer said the hospital had stabilized Downs, but there were concerns about internal injuries, as well as back and neck injuries.
