LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society will host the ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon! on Friday, Oct. 17, through Sunday, Oct. 19.

They will join 33 communities across the country also participating in this adoption event. The shelter’s goal is to adopt 150 or more animals in those three days.

Dozens of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens of many different breeds, sizes and colors will be waiting to meet potential new families.

In addition to the adoptable pets at GAHS, other shelters and rescues from around the state will have pets available for adoption.

All pets will be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccinations before going to their new home. They also will leave the shelter sporting a new collar, leash and personalized ID tag.

Adoption fees will be waived on all adult cats (six months and older) and adult dogs (one year and older) throughout the three days. Adoption fees on younger pets will be as follows: $50 for kittens (under six months), $300 for puppies (under six months) and $150 for dogs (six months to one year). Discounted adoption fees do not include “VIP Pets.”

GAHS is at 55 Strawberry Ave. To learn more about volunteering or adopting, call 783-2311 or visit www.SavingPetsInMaine.org or www.facebook.com/gahumane.
