Jurors select 162 pieces for Oct. 22-25 show at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church

YARMOUTH — Eighty Maine artists will exhibit 162 pieces of their work at the sixth annual Yarmouth Art Festival. The juried show will be held Oct. 22-25 at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church at 396 Gilman Road.

This year’s festival drew nearly 350 entries from artists across Maine. This year’s jurors – all returning from the 2013 show – were artist Suzanne Harden; Anne Haas, Bowdoin College art librarian; and Elizabeth Moss, owner of Elizabeth Moss Gallery in Falmouth.

“We’re excited about the response – it’s our largest number of artists ever – which illustrates the vibrancy of the Maine arts community,” said Joe Michaud, festival co-chair. “The overall quality of the work was again outstanding.”

The 2014 show will run Wednesday, Oct. 22, through Friday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. An artists’ reception, including music and refreshments, will be held Thursday from 5:30-8 p.m. Admission will be free for both the festival and the reception, with donations welcome.

Submission fees and sale commissions support St. Bart’s programs, including contributions and member support of local community services such as Friendship House, Yarmouth Community Food Pantry and St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry in Portland.

Created in 2009 as a venue for Maine artists, the festival features painting, drawing, sculpture and photography. Additional information is available at www.yarmouthartfestival.com.
