Wesley McNair to speak at library

RUMFORD — Wesley McNair, Maine’s distinguished poet laureate, will read from his works and talk about becoming a writer at the Rumford Library’s Fourth Thursday Poetry program, Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

McNair, who taught for any years at UMaine/Farmington, published his last collection, “The Lost Child,” last spring. That book will be on sale after his presentation.

Fall dance at Hope Association

RUMFORD — A fall dance featuring Joe “The Music Man” Sirois will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Hope Association, 85 Lincoln Ave. Open to the public.

Refreshments will be available. Donations welcome; proceeds to benefit non-Medicaid reimbursable programs provided by Hope Association.

Chicken pie supper on Oct. 25

RUMFORD — The Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street will have a chicken pie supper on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The meal will include chicken pie, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables, rolls, coffee and tea or punch plus a choice of lemon or chocolate delight dessert. There will be one sitting only at 5 p.m. and the cost is $9.
