Lyndon State 3, UMF 1

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — The UMaine-Farmington men’s soccer team (1-11-1) fell, 3-1, to North Atlantic Conference opponent Lyndon State after surrendering three first half goals Wednesday afternoon.

Lyndon took the lead at 37:35 as the Hornets executed on a two-on-one, give-and-go play. Devin Cowand kicked a pass through the Beaver defense to Bradley Shumway; Shumway unselfishly dished a pass back to Cowand who sent the easy on-timer past UMF goalie Matt Wilson.

The Beavers ruined the shutout when Ean Rouillard capitalized on Lyndon turnover with 5:04 left in the first half. Ryan Fairbanks stole the Lyndon possession and passed to his right, and then Rouillard sent a strike into the top left corner of the goal.

Bates 3, Husson 1

BANGOR — First-year Caroline Andy scored on a Bates corner in the final seconds of the first half, and the Bobcat women’s soccer team went on to a 3-1 non-conference victory Wednesday night at Boucher Field.

Bates (7-5) snapped Husson’s (8-5) six-game winning streak, and broke a three-game skid of its own.

The Bobcats got all three of their goals from rookies, led off by late first-half goals by forward Libby Malasky and the midfielder Andy — the first collegiate score for both players, scored just 95 seconds apart from one another. Malasky scored with 1:35 left in the period when the ball caromed to her and she sent in a low shot to beat Eagles goalkeeper Anna Wolterbeek. Then in the final seconds of the half, on a Malasky corner kick, Andy scored amid a scramble in front of the Husson net.
