1922 – 2014

LEWISTON — Rita Y. (Roy) Houle, 92, of Auburn, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 12, 1922, to Frank and Marie Imelda Lepage Roy. She grew up in Lewiston, and graduated from Lewiston High School and Acme Business College.

Rita was a pioneer in her day. She began her career at the Brunswick Naval Air Station in personnel and later transferred to Togus Veterans Hospital, where she worked in the prosthetic department for over 35 years.

Rita was a beloved mother, memere, sister and “ma tante.” She was kind and generous to all. She was a very talented woman who was always open to new ideas and learning new things.

Survivors include her daughter, Frances Gosselin and her husband, Ronald Gosselin; son, Ernest Houle Jr.; granddaughter, Erin Pugliese; sister, Pauline Morissette; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Houle; her parents, Frank and Marie Imelda Roy; and her two brothers, Lionel and Roger.
