I find the demonizing of the term “career politician” by Eric Brakey and his mother to be offensive.

People who have spent years in public service, as John Cleveland has, have experience which is invaluable when serving in the Legislature. Understanding the legislative process is important to be a successful member of the Legislature. Cleveland’s experience is invaluable to the work he will do for his district and the state of Maine.

Brakey seems to support the libertarian and tea party ideologies, which I consider extreme and divisive. Elected officials who are open-minded and consensus builders are needed in Augusta. I believe Cleveland has shown those qualifications.

As a lifelong resident, Cleveland understands the interests of people in Maine, while his opponent has only been in Maine for a few years.

I will be voting for John Cleveland.
