NEW GLOUCESTER — Friends of the Shakers invite the public to join their Fall Work Day, as part of Make a Difference Day’s national day of community service on Saturday, Oct. 25, to help the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Community and Museum by readying the village for winter.
The Friends of the Shakers hold multiple work days at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village and spend the day working at various assignments suitable for all ages and abilities. Work days bring chores, but fellowship as well.
Everyone shares the noon meal, conversation, and laughter.
Members and volunteers will help ready the village for the upcoming winter months by raking leaves, preparing herbs, stacking wood, pruning the Shakers’ gardens, clearing brush, picking fruit, and so much more.
Chores start at 9 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. Limited space is available for the public and pre-registration is required.
