1948 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Errol K. Barker, 66, of South Paris passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, at his home.

He was born in Norway on June 4, 1948, the son of Wendell and Eva Kimball Barker. He attended Waterford and Harrison schools and graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1966. He attended Auburn School of Commerce and started at Husson College in Bangor before being drafted.

He faithfully served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam, Americal Artillery near Da Nang. He was under sniper fire and hit a mine, therefore receiving the Purple Heart.

He married Gloria Stone on March 17, 1973.

He worked at Northeast Bank and Cullinan Oil as an accountant. He was a rural carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Windham, Bethel and Locke Mills, retiring five years ago.

Errol was a member of the Stone-Smart American Legion Post No. 82, the Norway-Paris Fish and Game, the South Paris Congregational Church and the Roxbury ATV Club. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp in Errol, N.H. He loved his family, animals and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of South Paris; a son, Tony Barker and wife, Rachel, of Harrison; a daughter, Corey Barker of Riverview, Fla.; two brothers, Herbert of South Paris and Gordon of Norway; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Eva Barker and Marcus and Trevor Williams; and several nieces and nephews, Julie, Jeremy, Jocelynn, Lisa, Bonita, Joel, Christine, Elaine and Brent.
