Lewiston-based Triple Threat seventh grade basketball team split their double-header games Oct. 19. With both teams playing with ever-changing rules, Threat defeated a feisty Central Maine Hoops 25-19 in the first game. Threat used pressure defense to force several turnovers that helped them win.

Mia-Angelina Leslie had four steals and forced six turnovers. Sarah Greaton had two blocked shots. Laila Bunnitt (7), Jordyn Rubin (5), Leslie(3), Greaton (3), Desirae Dumais (3), Cece Racine(3), Maddy Foster, Rebecca Zimmerman, and Peyton Gaudette with one apiece accounted for Threat’s 27 rebounds.

Rubin led all scorers with 14 points. In the second game, Threat lost a heartbreaker to a Blue Wave team.

Blue Wave jumped out to an eight-point lead at the half. Threat dug deep defensively and rode accurate shooting from Racine to close the gap to a bucket with time running out.

Foster drove to the basket as the buzzer sounded but was fouled on the play. Foster couldn’t convert the free throws and Threat suffered their second loss of the season, 29-27. Racine led the scoring with nine points, followed by Rubin (7), Dumais (4), and Foster(4).
