1947 – 2014

LEWISTON — Mary Lou Ellis, 67, of Granite Street in Mexico, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 26, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a courageous battle with cancer.

A daughter of Thomas A. and Mary A. (Gilbert) DeFosse, she was born in Lisbon, N.H., on Sept. 2, 1947. She was educated in Dixfield schools and was a graduate of Dixfield High School.

Mary Lou was a devoted mother to her children and to their friends, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafting and watching the New England Patriots. Mary Lou also loved all holidays — her favorite was Halloween. She loved her pets and especially her cat, Peanut.

Mary Lou also loved going to the ocean, traveling with her daughter, Missy, sitting on her front porch and lunches with her friends at the Far East.

Surviving are her former husband and close friend, John Ellis Sr., of Carthage; children, Mary Beth Allen and husband, Jim, of Mexico, John O. Ellis Jr. and companion, Debra Landry, of Owls Head, Terri L. Ellis and friend, Phil O’Leary, of Rumford, Melissa M. Ellis and companion, Gary Warren, of Peru, Shon Ellis and companion, Lisa Godbois, of Carthage and Andrew C. Ellis and companion, Jen Noyes, of Gray; two sisters, Judy Jones of New Hampshire and Patti DeMerrit of Dixfield; 18 grandchildren, Kristen, Jessica, Ayla, Alexa, Zack, Joseph, Jennifer, Tyler, Kori, Chad, Kyle, Katelyn, Gavin, Marshall, Christian, Andrew Jr., Danielle and Cierra; and two great-grandchildren, Cash and Lydia.

She was predeceased by her parents and a son, Ricky Alan Ellis.
