1935 – 2014

AUBURN — Normand “Pop” Letourneau, 79, of 136 South Hatch Hill in Greene, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 10, 1935, a son of George and Phoebe (Doyon) Letourneau. He was educated in local schools.

On Oct. 19, 1957, he married the love of his life, Jeanne d’Arc (Loiselle) Letourneau, and then went on to proudly serve his country in the 103rd Infantry U.S. Army National Guard from 1952 to 1962, and was activated during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Norm worked at Clark Shoe and spent most of his career working at Shawnee Steps (American Concrete); he most recently worked for The Dingley Press, from which he retired in 2008.

He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and taking annual fishing trips with his sons and son-in-law. Generations of neighborhood kids loved him and his playful spirit. His goodness shone from within; he had a giving spirit and a caring heart, which he so willingly shared with everyone.

Pop was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He touched many lives; he will be greatly missed and he will be remembered forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne; sons, Paul and wife, Betty, of Connecticut and Mike and wife, Cindy, of Greene; daughter, Lisa Bosse and husband, Dave, of Greene; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Letourneau and Jenna and Jake Bosse. Pop is also survived by his brothers, Richard of Lewiston and Ray of New Hampshire; sisters, Shirley Florida of Ohio and Sandra Gagnon of Lewiston; and a sister-in-law, Judy Letourneau, of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by three brothers, William, Alfred and Robert; and three sisters, Pearl Guenette, Georgette Caron and Jeannine Hall.

The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the dedication and excellent care they provided to our dad and husband during his final weeks.
