WELLS — Chris Carney rushed for three touchdowns, giving him school single-season records of 28 scores and more than 1,700 yards, leading No. 3 Wells to a 55-28 Class C West football quarterfinal win Friday night over No. 6 Poland at Warrior Memorial Field.

Wells (7-2) will travel to Spruce Mountain (8-1) in the semifinals next Friday. Poland (3-6) was making the first playoff appearance in the program’s 12-year history.

Mike Curtis also scored three TDs for the Warriors, who led 34-6 at the half. Carney scored from 50 yards out and Curtis from 45 in the third to put away the Knights.

Adam Mocciola’s 65-yard scoring jaunt was the highlight for the Knights.

Reid Chase tacked on a late score for Wells. Nate Booth also connected with Jordan Cluff for a TD.
