LEWISTON — A husband and wife from Auburn were injured Wednesday afternoon when they were hit by a truck on East Avenue.

George Olson, 57, of Rome, Maine, was driving northbound on East Avenue in a GMC pickup truck when the couple — Jeffrey and Samantha Williams — ran across the street near Shaw’s Supermarket.

He hit both of them, Lewiston police officer Jeremy Somma said. The intersection has no crosswalk.

The husband and wife, ages 33 and 36, respectively, suffered leg injuries which Somma described as “minor.”

Police were investigating. A cause had not been determined, Somma said.

Neither alcohol nor distractions were involved, Somma said.
