ELLSWORTH — Maine police have arrested two Florida men they say were selling cocaine in Ellsworth.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announced that acting on a tip, it conducted surveillance on the men who had stayed at an Ellsworth hotel and were allegedly selling cocaine out of their van.

After making an undercover purchase of drugs, police on Saturday arrested 44-year-old Marc Antoine Thervil and 51-year-old St. Merite Nicholas. Both have addresses in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Police say a search of the van turned up more than a pound of cocaine valued at more than $50,000 hidden in a rubber boot.

Both men are being held on $100,000 bail on cocaine trafficking charges. It’s not clear if they have lawyers.

Federal officials have been notified because of possible immigration violations.
