AUGUSTA — Two candidates vying for seats in the Maine Senate are no longer seeking a ballot recount.

Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap’s office said Friday that there will no longer be recounts in the race for Senate District 2, which includes parts of Aroostook and Penobscot Counties. Unofficial results show that Republican Michael Willette beat Democrat Michael Carpenter for the seat.

The recount request was also withdrawn in the race for Senate District 13, which covers most of Lincoln County and parts of Kennebec and Knox counties. In that race, unofficial results show Democratic Sen. Chris Johnson defeating Republican Les Fossel.

Officials were recounting ballots Friday for the Senate District 11 race. Recounts are scheduled for next week for Senate Districts 21 and 25.
