CHESTERVILLE — A local man is accused of pointing a semi-automatic rifle at the ground and making threatening comments toward his ex-girlfriend Saturday, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said Monday.

Kristopher E. Allen, 26, of Chesterville, was arrested on felony charges of domestic violence terrorizing and endangering the welfare of a child, he said.

A conviction on either charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The man’s ex-girlfriend had gone to Allen’s parents’ house on Chesterville Hill Road at approximately 11 a.m. to pick up two children they had together. While there, the woman served Allen with civil paperwork and he became enraged and verbally abusive, Nichols said.

When the ex-girlfriend was putting the children in the car, Allen came outside with the rifle and made threatening comments toward her, but did not point the rifle at her or the children, the sheriff said.

Allen’s girlfriend came out of the house and told him to stop, and he walked back into the house, Nichols said.

Deputies Colt Bernhardt, Cpl. Christopher Chase and Cpl. Nate Bean responded to the incident.

Later, deputies and a Wilton officer went to Allen’s girlfriend’s residence in Wilton, where he was arrested, Nichols said.

Allen was being held without bail Monday morning. He was expected to appear before a judge later in the day to have bail set.
